Origin
Muffins are a type of marine fungus that grows on the piles of seaside piers.
Muffins are harvested by muffin men using reels of brightly coloured nylon twine. The muffins are hooked, winched-up, and placed in a keep-net to keep them from escaping. The next step in muffin production is to kill them using a 17-pound muffin-hammer and dry them in beach-side muffin drying sheds which are open on one side to allow air circulation. Muffins may be further processed into crumpets.
